Another Success
The Haigler Improvement Committee hosted another successful "Bluegrass Breakdown" on Sunday afternoon and evening, Aug 7. "We are very pleased with the outcome", said Jody Crouse, one of those who helped organize and plan the event. Free-will donations in the "pass the boot" collection amounted to $1,200. Funds will be used to finish the Village of Haigler Christmas lighting project and to start a scholarship fund for Dundy County youth. Crouse reported that Cowboy Catering served about 250 people and that it estimated that about 400 people attended the bluegrass show at the village park. "Of those attending, we heard a lot of positive comments about this year's entertainment. The groups got the crowd and families involved in what they were doing," Crouse said. She went on to say that two groups have already committed to come next year. The date of Sunday, Aug 6, 2006 has been tentatively selected with the format to remain the same as this year. Although it was a hot summer day, the park had plenty of shade and a nice breeze kept the air moving most of the time and the bugs didn't seem to bother. Jam sessions were held after the formal entertainment with three going at different locations in the park until about 8:30 p.m. Photos by Richard Bartholomew
